Innes House is set amongst an inspirational natural and agricultural landscape, with a rich history and promising future.

As custodians of a sustainable Scottish estate, we have a continued commitment to care for our shared environment and strive to be as sustainable as possible throughout all aspects of our operation, so that subsequent generations can enjoy the estate just as we have done.

Throughout the estate, we manage our impact on the environment and make decisions that benefit our communities, landscape, flora and fauna for the long term.

Responsible Land Management

With an operation that encompasses everything from malting barley, root vegetables, to commercial and ancient forestry, the estate is as diverse as it is productive. Our farm is part of the UK wide Agri Environment and Climate Scheme AECS scheme, which promotes land management practises that protect and enhance Scotlands magnificent natural heritage, improve water quality, manage flood risk and mitigate and adapt to climate change.

Renewable Energy and Innovation

Beyond the farm, plans are well underway to repurpose the disused World War Two airfield at Milltown and create Scotland’s largest solar farm in 2026 – powering some 25k homes. Closer to home, Innes House itself is heated by a pioneering biomass system fuelled exclusively by estate timber, and guest rooms are stocked with locally produced Ness Soaps, and bamboo toilet paper.

Estate and Community Initiatives

In the kitchen, game from shoot days is utilised in menus and offered to staff and family, with all surplus going to our local food bank, along with fruit and vegetables from our recently revitalised kitchen garden which has already proven to be a favourite with visitors.
